About Easter

Easter matters to a New Orleans calendar far beyond the day itself: Mardi Gras is set 47 days before it, so an early Easter means a short Carnival season and a late Easter a long one. The Crescent City Classic 10K runs the Saturday before, and spring festivals such as French Quarter Fest and the Tennessee Williams festival schedule around it.

Easter Sunday itself brings several small parades and walking clubs in the French Quarter and on Bourbon Street, with Easter bonnets, and church services at St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square. Their dates follow Easter, but routes and times are set by their organisers each year.
