History

Thoth, named for the Egyptian god of wisdom, was founded in 1947 and first rolled in 1948. It calls itself the 'Krewe of the Shut-Ins' because its long route passes hospitals and care homes, including Children's Hospital, before joining St. Charles.

It is one of the largest parades of the season, with more than 2,500 riders on about 50 floats.
